Director Christopher Nolan's cast for his upcoming third (and final) Batman movie, The Dark Knight Rises, is coming together. Josh Pence was added to the cast last week as a young Ra's al Ghul (the elder version was played by Liam Neeson in Batman Begins), and now three more actors have joined the highly-anticipated production.
Variety reports that Daniel Sunjata (Rescue Me, Ghosts of Girlfriends Past) has been cast as a "courageous special forces operative" which, according to The Tracking Board (via ComicBookResources) is "an important character to the story."
Diego Klattenhoff (Showtime's upcoming drama series Homeland) has been cast as "a rookie cop looking to make a difference," while Layer Cake's Burn Gorman has been cast in an unspecified role.
Production on The Dark Knight Rises is scheduled to begin next month, with "four to six weeks" of production to take place in Pittsburgh, which will fill in as Gotham City.
Jonathan Nolan wrote the screenplay for the sequel, from an idea conceived by his brother Chris and David Goyer. Newcomer cast members Tom Hardy, Anne Hathaway, Marion Cotillard, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and Juno Temple will join returning cast members Christian Bale, Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine, and Gary Oldman.
