New Dark Knight Rises Website Reveals First Image of Tom Hardy as Bane

To coincide with the formal announcement of the start of principal photography on The Dark Knight Rises (TDKR), Warner Bros. has also unveiled an official website for the highly anticipated sequel, which has unveiled the first image of Tom Hardy as Bane.

The website doesn't reveal the image right away, instead it reveals a black screen with a haunting chant playing in the background. Turns out that figuring out the mysterious site was simple. According to SlashFilm, a fan at the SuperHeroHype message boards simply looked at the visual spectrum of the audio message, realized it represented a hashtag (#thefirerises), Tweeted the hashtag, which, in turn, added a pixel to the slowly evolving picture of Bane. See? Easy.

But rather than wait around for the image to fully resolve, Joblo.com already has the high-res version of the image. How they got that is still a mystery.

Looks like director Christopher Nolan is going to incorporate an viral element to his third Batman movie, much like he did with Inception. We can't wait to see what Nolan has in store for us online as production continues on TDKR.

Written by Nolan and his brother, Jonathan Nolan, The Dark Knight Rises will continue to shoot in Pittsburgh, New York City, Los Angeles, Scotland, India, and England. The movie stars franchise actors Christian Bale, Michael Caine, Gary Oldman and Morgan Freeman alongside newcomers Hardy, Anne Hathaway, Marion Cotillard, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Josh Pence, Nestor Carbonell, Juno Temple, Daniel Sunjata, Diego Klattenhoff, Burn Gorman, and Alon Aboutboul.
