Christopher Nolan's closing chapter in his Batman trilogy, The Dark Knight Rises, has been hotly watched for any glimpse or slip as to who the newest villain(s) might be. Hero Complex reports this morning that Warner Bros. has announced that Anne Hathaway has been cast in the role of Selina Kyle, aka Catwoman, and Tom Hardy as the villain Bane.
On teaming with Hardy, Nolan said, "I am delighted to be working with Tom again and excited to watch him bring to life our new interpretation of one of Batman’s most formidable enemies."
Hathaway has recently come off her role as Maggie Murdock in Love and Other Drugs and Hardy has been long-expected to join the Batman cast since his scene stealing turn as Eames in Nolan's summer blockbuster Inception.
Christian Bale will return as Bruce Wayne / Batman and Michael Caine as the indomitable butler, Alfred. Nolan directs from a script written by his brother and collaborator Jonathan Nolan.
